Meet the Therapist
Tansy Cattanach, LISW-CP, LCSW-S
Serving clients throughout South Carolina and Texas
Hi, I’m Tansy Cattanach and I am a clinical social worker licensed in South Carolina and Texas. It is such a privilege to work as psychotherapist and be a part of the journey that my clients are on. My passion for this work comes from a deep personal understanding of the challenges many face, especially those related to anxiety, trauma, and emotional pain. My own experiences growing up and navigating life’s ups and downs have shaped my desire to help others create meaningful change in their lives.
I recognize how experiences—whether in childhood or adulthood—can deeply influence our beliefs, emotions, and behaviors and often lay the foundation for how we view ourselves and interact with the world. My personal journey has fueled my commitment to offering a compassionate, understanding space where you can explore and heal the wounds of your past.
My Approach
In therapy, I draw from a variety of researched-backed approaches including:
EMDR Therapy (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing): A trauma-focused therapy designed to help process distressing memories and feelings.
CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy): A method to help you understand and shift patterns of thinking and behavior that may be contributing to anxiety or negative feelings.
I tailor these approaches, and others, based on your unique personality, history, and goals. My aim is to help you find lasting relief, while also empowering you with the tools to continue your journey outside of therapy.
Faith and a Nonjudgmental Approach
Faith is an important part of my life, and it informs my work in subtle but meaningful ways. I believe that spiritual well-being and mental health are deeply interconnected, and I welcome conversations about how your beliefs may intersect with your therapeutic journey. That being said, I take a nonjudgmental stance in my practice and honor each individual’s perspective. I am committed to providing a safe space where all backgrounds, beliefs, and experiences are respected.
My Background
I hold a master's degree in social work from Texas State University and have had the privilege of working with people from all walks of life. While I continue to work in Integrated Behavioral Health in a primary care setting to provide mental health services to patients, my focus and passion has been helping individuals who are struggling with trauma, anxiety, and emotional distress. I bring a deep sense of empathy to my practice, recognizing that healing is not a one-size-fits-all journey but a unique process for each person.
A Little More About Me
Outside of my work, I love spending time with my family and serving my community. Whether it’s traveling, camping, or simply enjoying the beach together, I find joy in creating new memories with my family and developing traditions that bring us closer. These moments help me stay grounded and remind me of what’s truly important. I also try to give back to my community and I serve on the board of a homeless coalition and at my local church. Throughout it all, I strive to practice compassion—offering myself and others grace, especially in moments where growth is still unfolding.
